First Impressions is a ministry of Renew Communities that strives to create a “wow” experience for guests. When a guest comes to check out Renew Communities during a Sunday morning gathering, it is the First Impressions team that goes out of their way to make them feel loved, accepted, and comfortable. Our goal is to help the guest see Jesus more clearly… whether that is through a friendly hello and handshake, offering assistance with their kids, helping them find a seat, or offering them a hot cup of coffee… all of these things help to show how much we care about them, and ultimately, how much God cares about them. When guests feel valued, they will return!
The great thing about this ministry is you can volunteer as much or as little as you would like! You can also volunteer for different teams… for example, you could serve as a greeter one week, and a parking lot attender the next week! All we need are individuals who are willing to show up 20 minutes early with a servant’s heart and a smile!
Ways you can help:
Parking Lot Attendants: (2 per service) These people are the very first impression that a guest will have when arriving at a Sunday morning gathering! They will greet each vehicle with a smile, help people find parking spots, assist and direct new guests where to enter the building, and offer to walk people in with an umbrella when in-climate weather occurs!
Greeters: (2 per service) Greeters are the second point of interaction a guest will experience when visiting a Sunday morning gathering at Renew. Their job is to stand by the entrance and greet guests with a friendly hello and guide them in the right direction, whether that is the children’s check-in, the central gathering space, restrooms, etc…
Ushers: (2 per service) These people will greet guests as they enter the central gathering space, pass out programs, and help people find a seat.
Hospitality: (2 per service) Individuals who serve on the hospitality team will help serve coffee and other refreshments before, during, and after the gathering. The goal is to greet and serve each person with a smile and engage in friendly conversation with the guests.
Connect/Information Table: (1 per service) These people will make themselves available to answer questions about Renew, Missional Communities, or any other questions guests may have. They will also help with sign-ups and other information that will be made available to guests.
I can only come to Renew every other Sunday due to my work schedule, but being new to Renew, I would like to get more connected and help others connect, so I’m interested in Greeting and/or Ushering 1 Sunday a month.

Renew Communities exists to see people renewed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We’re not an organization or an institution – we are a network of missional communities made up of individuals whose lives have been made new by the Gospel and are dead set on carrying that Gospel to the places where life intersection takes place.
